Henrys ROX Renegades November 08 Janine Taft started Black Water Alley back in summer of 2004 with her friend, partner and guitarist, Dustin Bendell. They also perform in an acoustic duet called "DoubleShot". Black Water Alley is a 5 piece cover rock and roll band that prides itself in playing more "B" side rock. "The musicianship and talent in this band yearns for challenging music! We refuse to be like every other cookie cutter band that is performing the same set list at a variety of any given venues, on any given night. We still deliver GREAT dance tunes, pride ourselves in picking the "RIGHT" music that showcases our talents, and have great crowd interaction's, but do it all BWA style." Black Water Alley also decided when they started to keep a two times a month gig schedule to keep our show fresh, and not burn people out. This also ensures the band members much needed time to raise kids, and spend quality time with their families! Longevity is the main ingredient in any band, and with 5 seasoned musicians, we realize most bands around us will gig heavily and then burn out, and break up. BWA is onboard for the long haul, and FINALLY we have a permanent group of people dedicated to making Black Water Alley one of the best Twin Cities Premier Rock Bands! DUSTIN BENDELL - Guitar/Vocals Dustin and his wife Jessica Dustin Bendell has been with BWA from the start. He brings a style of guitar playing to the table that puts BWA on the map. He is a freelance guitar teacher, and performs with another group called "Soul Drums", as well as in "DoubleShot" with Janine. Dustin has a beautiful wife, and son Davey...with a new baby on the way! Dustin is an incredible musician with a great ear, as well as professional attitude when it comes to performing. He is great to watch on stage, and will take your breath away with his awesome guitar licks & stylings!
John Robeck - Guitar/Vocals John and his wife Colleen John "Otis Sawyer" hails to us from the great town of Gaylord Mn, and is a great asset to Black Water Alley with his great vocal and guitar style, he makes the stage come alive with his humorous bantor, and crowd participation antics! A great guitarist first, John also performs in the groups "Trail Blazer's" with his Mom, and "Prairie Drifters", an acoustic trio. John Also has a great wife, and two adorable kids! John is the comedian of the group, and is always there for a good laugh, but don't let that fool ya, this guy shreds with the best of em!
Chris "Captain" Meyer - Drums the "CAPTAIN" is in ladies GOT TOOL? Chris "The Captain" Meyer has been with Black Water Alley for over a year now, and flies the BWA plane with an energy and a backbeat that not many other's can touch! As the backbone of the band, Chris is always coming up with great ideas on how to put our own flair or stamp on songs which makes him a very valuable player in this game! He has great taste in music, and is always fun to hang with. Chris is a flight instructor, and a family man, with a cool wife, and two great kids! Chris also plays with The Shaw Brother's Band (Shout out to Trent) and we are happy to have him as a part of the BWA family!
Dave "Hebrew Hammer" Cohen Dave "Hammer" Cohen Dave and his wife Jill Dave and John bonding... hmmmmmmmmm. Dave is just an all round great guy! He is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Bass Playing! He plays several different styles of bass, and is a master at tone quality and control. He is a music Major and rounds out the band with a great ear, good instincts, and a fun personality. Dave and his wife Jill, have two gorgeous daughters, Leah & Sarah, and live in the Farmington area. Dave and his Bass playing are for BWA, a perfect match. He has a great win, win attitude, and always willing to lend a hand, and still have a smile on his face! Every band needs a strong rythym section and with Dave and Chris on board, BWA has a sound all it's own!
